Understanding Masking with Neurodivergent (ND) Communities
Generative Research | Qualitative Methods
Studying masking as an adaptive mechanism in ND communities to create social access in neurotypical-dominated societies. I'm also exploring how everyday technologies are appropriated to support masking behaviors and, social access needs.
Camera-ready paper to appear at CHI'25.

Marginalized communities that are based in play, often have to navigate social media platforms carefully. In creating a safe space for the communities to flourish on these platforms, members put in significant labor. We explore how might social platforms' inherent design cater to these communities and their values.

Interactive movies on Netflix, such as Black Mirror Bandersnatch, are revolutionizing video media by making them more engaging and immersive. On the other hand, virtual reality (VR) is known for its high immersion and interaction capabilities. Utilizing this, we asked: How can we make video playbacks in VR interactive? Using design research, we formed an interaction space that showed various ways interactive video playbacks can manifest in a VR environment.
